I’ve been busy in the kitchen this afternoon and up to my elbows in strawberries and rhubarb. The first thing I made was strawberry rhubarb compote that I will probably eat within two days. I can’t help myself. It’s so good! I love it in my morning yogurt. It’s the perfect combination of sweet and tart and definitely gives me just the kick I need in the morning!
I also made these strawberry jalapeno preserves. You can use serrano peppers but I happened to buy jalapeno’s while at the market. The preserves definitely pack some heat and this will be a great kick in the pants for an afternoon snack!

Rhubarb from the market and some strawberries that are soon to be made into compote. Yum! (Taken with instagram)
It happens when people look past their ultimately minor differences to see themselves in the hopes and struggles of their fellow human beings. That’s where change is happening.
And that’s not just the story of the gay rights movement. That’s the story of America—the slow, inexorable march towards a more perfect union.

I’ve been tempted to buy tickets to Lolla b/c the lineup is amazing this year. But I didn’t b/c I’m trying to be a good girl and save money.
And now this? Somerset, WI isn’t exactly Chicago but hey, it would be fun and I’ve always wanted to see Band of Horses. Hmm….
How magical is Madison, WI? So glad we got to make a pit stop here on the Madewell Denim Roadtrip.
I missed out on the Madewell bus yesterday. Darn!
