Nobody ever asks me what my favorite video on YouTube is. And while it’s nice to live in a world relatively free of conversations about people’s favorite YouTube videos, I actually have an answer to this one that I believe is worth sharing. ”U Really Got A Hold on Me” has actually been my favorite video since before YouTube existed, since I saw it on a VH1 special on musical performances on Sesame Street. When I discovered YouTube, I was very excited for the chance to watch this video again. I’m reminded it exists every few months, and it’s always wonderful.
In case for some reason you aren’t already watching, it features a puppet letter U attempting to ensnare Smokey Robinson, who sings a modified version of his Miracles’ hit.

Seriously, I would get so excited when this segment would re-air on Sesame Street when I was little- one of my favorites.
Love this song but the video? Totally freaked me out then and still does now. It just seems so…dirty. And not in a good way.
